The Process
When wanting to create the effect of removing my fingerprint I had to create a fake layer of skin in which I would be able to remove. To do this I got a candle and let it burn for a while allowing the wax around it to melt into a small pool. Once there was enough I blew out the candle and gently placed my finger in to the wax ensuring I don't burn myself in the process.I gently patted the wax on to my finger making sure there were no unnatural lumps as I wanted it to look as realistic as possible. I then got the pen knife and slowly removed the wax from my finger, by holding the knife at an angle and gently pushing down it created the realistic effect of removing my own skin. While doing this I was careful not to injure myself with the knife.
Towards the end of removing the wax I created a jolt to appear as if I had ripped the rest off of my finger. Once again this added to the effect of making it realistic as I would believe that towards the end it would be more violent in their movements at removing the skin.
