Editing saturation and footage

When I took the footage in the final cut pro the images of the video were unnaturally coloured due to the lighting within Wicks. Not only this, the settings on the camera were set to create a warmer lighting, this only became apparent after the footage had been filmed as we only had a set time in which we were allowed to film.

Once the footage was placed in to final cut pro I used the blade tool to ensure that we removed the camera wobbling at the beginning of the clips. I also had to remove the ending of some of the clips as they weren’t as smooth at the middle sections of the videos. I then looked in to editing the colour of the videos to create a colder effect. In order to create this effect blue and white tonnes are usually used to make this atmosphere.

Adjesting the colour balance within the footage. When we initially filmed the lighting and colour were incorrect, as seen in the lower half of the image the colour is different in comparison to the image at the top.

I adjusted the saturation making the shadows deeper and slightly reducing the highlights to make a pale effect. This worked particularly well due to the light floor in comparison to the dark edges.

Finally adjusting the exposure of the footage and therefore balancing the footage from the previously edited sections. Once I knew the levels in which created the correct effect I used the same levels for all the footage filmed in this location for continuity.
