Practical: Creating a Fake Bruise

As fake bruises are commonly seen in the slasher horror genre I wanted to recreate one myself which could come into use when creating our teaser trailer.

Step 1: Collect all the materials needed to create the bruise.

Step 2: Using some black eye shadow I applied it to the area I wanted the bruise to cover.

Step 3: I added some purple eye shadow and blended it in to make the bruise look darker.

Step 4: I then outlined the bruise with brown eye shadow which was then also blended in.

Step 5: The final step was to blend the bruise so that it didn't look to circular. I also used tissue to wipe away excess eye shadow to make the bruise look lighter and more realistic. Below shows the final bruise.

Evaluation
Overall, the bruise looked realistic and it didn't require any complex materials to create. It was also quick to create therefore several bruises could be created on the actor if needed. However, in the future I would have given it more of a purple undertone similar to a real bruise.
