Practical- Picture pin board

In the horror genre the killer is often a stalker. Therefore, we decided to create a prop which had all of the pictures of the victims which could also be used in our final trailer.

To create this prop I used a large pin board.

I then had to find lots of pictures of different people to make it seem like the killer had many victims. I decided to find these pictures in random travel magazines as there were lots of pictures of different people. I also went into a charity shop where they sold old fashioned photos of people. I only bought three of these photos as I didn't want the picture board to look too dated as these were in black and white. I pinned all these photos close together so that it looked like he had many victims. In addition to using pins I also used masking tape to stick on some of the images.

To make the killer seem like a stalker I decided to cut out maps and pictures of hotels, which also looked like houses, from the travel brochures. I then got some string and tied one end round one pin and the other end round another pin. This made it seem like some of these photos were linked such as a person and their house. We created a newspaper article of a murder to make sure the audience know what the board is used for. As well as this I added hair from the victim to the board I collected this hair from a wig that we purchased.

                          

As the victim in our trailer is Kelsey I also added some images of Kelsey onto the board to make sure that the prop fitted in with our trailer. I burnt the edges and stained of some of the images/newspaper articles to make it seem more worn and some of that he has had some of the images for longer than others suggesting that he has been killing people for a long time. I also added some receipts to make it look like he had bought some tools or he had stalked his victims and had gone to the same places they had been.  

                

I also circled some of the people's faces with a thick black marker pen in the images to show specific victims and wrote a few things on some of the maps and post it notes to make it seem like he was planning and making notes.

Evaluation

Overall, the picture board turned out well. In the future I would try and make a common theme between all of the victims to make it seem as if he was targeting specific people, which is often seen in the slasher horror genre, instead of having random people on the board. I would also include more pictures of the main victim.
